Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is my deposit refundable or transferable?

We do not offer refunds for deposits or tuition for any reason at anytime.  Please be aware that the deposit is not transferable to another child nor may it be used during another summer. Our staff is hired according to our enrollment. If you wish to cancel a credit (minus the $100 deposit and any lesson time used) will be issued to you for the following year. Please refer to our "SCHOOL POLICIES" page.

  • What does my child need to bring?

Have your child wear a bathing suit, bring a towel, shoes, and sunscreen (please apply sunscreen before you get to the lesson).  Your child can bring goggles, no face masks that block the nose. Put your child's name on everything and in a backpack. We do have a lost and found if anything does get lost. A water bottle is fine, however, due to possible student allergies, juice boxes, sports drinks, and snacks are not allowed.

Please arrive about 15 minutes prior to the lesson. The classes begin promptly at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.

  • Where do we go the first day?

Please be patient SAFETY is our #1 priority. We have a parking system so please follow the parking attendants direction. They will show you exactly where to park. Once parked, children aged 3, 4, and 5 will need to be checked in at the table located under the blue canopy. Children aged 6 and up will meet out by the large pool. Staff at the gate by the large pool will direct you according to the age of your children. Please take a moment to get acquainted with your child’s teachers. They will let you know where the class will be located during pick-up.

  • Why can't parents stay?

We recognize that separation anxiety may be an  issue for student and parent alike. Learning usually takes place in a comfortable environment in which the teacher has been able to establish a trusting relationship with the student. It is important that he/she be able to do so without the distraction of a parent or relative nearby. * We also ask parents to contact the office and come up to the office for early dismissal.  Students may not be dismissed directly from the class.

  • What if my child has food allergies?

If your child has food allergies please make our office staff AND the instructors aware of our child's condition. While we do not  allow food at our facility, we would like to take every precaution in keeping your children as safe as possible. Therefore, any medication needed to treat your child's allergy must be brought up to our office by your child's first day of Silton.  A short form must be filled out which gives us permission to dispense the medication.  All medication is locked in our Medication Cabinet and may remain in our office untill your child's last day.

  • Can you accommodate children with special needs?

To place your child in the appropriate program we suggest you call and speak to our experienced office staff. For our purposes a child's special needs applies to students with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or behavioral concerns. We can decide together if a general program or private lessons are best for your child. It is important that you communicate your child's special needs to our office and then again to the instructors. Disclosing your child’s educational special needs will assist us in placing him/her in the appropriate educational setting.

  • How are students placed?

There are different levels of abilities in each class. The students are placed by age unless they are competitive swimmers, then they may be placed in our lower or advanced competitive classes. Each instructor will create a lesson plan tailored to your child's abilities. There is the opportunity for group and individual instruction in every class. If your child is an advanced competitive swimmer age 7 and up please notify our office upon registration so he/she can be placed in a more advanced group.

  • What happens if it rains?

We normally do not close for rain, however, you can check our web site or call our office to see if the school has closed.  If we close there is no make up day unless we have to close a second time during your 2 week enrollment, then we will make every effort to make up that second day.

  • What if my child is afraid of water?

Please let us know if your child has a fear of the water and the possible reasons for that fear. We have seasoned instructors that work with fearful children. This is also all the more reason to take lessons. If the fear is not addressed it may stay with a child through adulthood.

  • Can I request that my child be in a class with a friend?

Yes, however, due to excessive requests we must limit your requests to 2 friends per child. No request is guaranteed but we will try our best. Also, the children MUST be registered as the same age or they will not end up in the same class regardless of your requests.

  • Can I make up missed lessons?

Make-ups must be scheduled with the office and are done for doctor excused reasons only. If we close our facility due to inclement weather  there is no make up day unless we have to close a second time during your 2 week enrollment, then we will make every effort to make up that second day.  All make-ups must be done during the current season unless your enrollment is during our last 3 weeks, then a "Make-up Day Certificate" will be issued to you for the following summer.   WE ARE OPEN ON THE 4th OF JULY!

  • How is your staff hired?

Many of our staff members have been with us for 5 or more years. When Senior Staff or Junior Staff teaching positions become available, applicants are interviewed and carefully selected by co-directors Mr. and Mrs. Leete and Danielle Nestler.  All staff undergo a name check through a government database and all employees 18 and older are fingerprinted. Junior Staff members are trained by Senior Staff members and other supervisors  with the understanding that they may assume a Senior Staff position in the future.
