Students with Special Needs

Silton Swim School wants to ensure your child has the best possible experience at our school. Our program is designed to instruct each child individually within the group allowing him/her to learn at a pace that works best.

Silton will make every effort to work with parents/guardians and the student with the hope they can successfully learn how to swim or achieve specific goals during the student’s enrollment. We realize that for parents of children with special needs, there are a number of factors that need to be considered in order to ensure a safe and positive camp experience. In order to provide your child with the best possible experience, we strongly encourage you to complete our Inclusion Intake Form below that will help us better aide your child during his/her enrollment at Silton Swim School. This document will only be shared with your child’s instructors and supervisory staff.

Silton Swim School will provide reasonable accommodations for students with special needs including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Students will be required to enrolled under a 2-day Trial period.

  2. Silton may provide a 1:1 instructor/aide within the group for your child. This may be arranged prior to the start of camp or during the 2-day trial period. (See below)

  3. Students have the ability to bring their own sensory toys/fidgets to help them during their out of pool time or during transition periods. If needed, Silton can provide these tools.

  4. Silton can provide adjustments to the student’s daily schedule. (i.e. getting out of the pool early, transitioning from one location to another, etc.)

  5. Parents will have the opportunity to speak with their child’s instructor(s) daily. Phone or in-person conferences can be arranged for a student to meet the instructor(s) prior to the start of his/her enrollment.
